In a city full of tourist traps, it’s always stressful picking a place to eat at without wondering if you’re making a bad decision that you (and your wallet and palate) will regret. We stumbled upon Osteria il Milion and decided to give it a try since we had some free time between walking tours and were in search of a quick dinner. Although I wasn’t too hopeful at first due to its location and proximity to other tourist traps, it ended up being one of the best meals we had during our week-long stay in Venice. The Spaghetti alla Carbonara was exactly what I came to Italy for! It was so delicious and the best pasta dish I had during my trip. My partner’s Bucatini alla Amatriciana was also delicious! We paired our food with a bottle of the house Cabernet Sauvignon (a steal at just 19) and had an incredible dinner for 50 for two, bottle of wine included. Not bad for a city that’s a bit more expensive than other European cities.

A great and quiet spot away from the Venice crowds. It's located in a mini square among other 2 restaurants which seemed a bit busier possibly due to having pizza on their menus which a lot of tourists seemed to want. There's more to Italian food than pizza though. I'm very glad we came here. The food was delicious and the service was good too. The highlight for me was the risotto nero. It looks a bit gross :D but it was the best tasting risotto I've ever had! It has the classic risotto texture to it, not too mushy or soggy but just right bit of moist and creamy, it only had a hint that it's seafood based without being too overpowering and the cuttlefish was surprisingly tender and not chewy at all. This place made our visit to Venice so much greater! Many thanks!

Skip restaurants near tourist centers and you'll find some gems! This restaurant was recommended to us by a local friend of ours and wow, we were not disappointed! The meal was truly one of the best I'd had in a long time. The pasta, risotto, beef and desserts were cooked to perfection and tasted great. Service was wonderful. Reasonably priced.

Lovely little place tucked down a side street around the corner from our Air B&B. Not touristy at all. Old World ambiance. Food was delicious... I tried the black cuttlefish pasta, which was a superb culinary adventure! My wife selected a risotto dish that was even better!I would highly recommend this spot for a quiet, delicious dinner.

If I could give this spot 10 star I would. Hands down the best Lobster pasta I ever had in my entire life !! It was served with a half a lobster and a mouthful of lobster bites in every forkful I took. They had a very nice ambience in the patio , with a wide selection of wines . Like they say wine is cheaper than water. We each consumed an entire bottle to ourself

This is another excellent local restaurant. The food and wine were first rate. The nearby theatre group was inside singing away and having fun when we went. A young group was discussing the pros and cons of families outside in the courtyard. I’m sure that the restaurant attracts a good local crowd. The owners are from the area and respond to a nice smile. They were perhaps the only ones in Venice not to stick us on a tiny table next to the front door. We really enjoyed the evening. The prices are fairly normal for Venice but eye-watering for those used to cheaper neighbourhoods in Italy. The menu focuses on typical dishes not particularly geared towards the tourist.

A lovely restaraunt hidden away. We had the spaghetti pomodorre with basil and artichoke risotto Great service, great location and great food for lunch as we got lost in Venice.
